Hook signaller course 

We are one of the most experienced companies in the market for training as a hook signaller. We provide a professional programme prepared on the basis of the current UDT examination requirements. Our training - practical and theoretical classes - is conducted by a staff of specialists with many years of experience. 

What conditions must be met before the course? 

To take part in our training: 

  • you need to have at least a primary school education, 
  • you should not have any health contraindications to practise as a hook signaller,  
  • you must be of legal age.  

What the course looks like? 

The classes cover both theory and practice. They teach, among other things: 

  • workstation preparation, 
  • familiarise themselves with the different types of cranes,  
  • current UDT requirements, 
  • gaining operator and maintenance qualifications,  
  • health and safety rules. 

After the training, trainees receive a certificate of attendance.

What you can learn on the course? 

By taking part in our course: 

  • you will become familiar with the current regulations on the handling of slings and the safe transport of cargo,  
  • you will learn about equipment and techniques for transporting cargo, 
  • you will acquire the skills to transport loads safely, 
  • you will consolidate your knowledge of: slings, technical characteristics of slings, dealing with emergency situations, identifying all types of hazards present during work.  

Receipt of entitlements  

In order to be qualified to perform the duties of a hook signaller, it is necessary to successfully pass a final examination. Once the participant has obtained a certain number of points, he or she is issued with a document confirming his or her skills and qualifications. The licence is issued by the Office of Technical Inspection. 

Key information on cranes

It is an overhead bridge-like structure that supports equipment such as cranes, signals or cameras. A gantry (transport) crane is an overhead assembly on which traffic signs or railway signals are placed.  

What types of cranes do we have? 

We distinguish between cranes:

  • bridging - are those with the load-bearing part resting on the overhead contact track,  
  • half-gate - whose load-bearing part of the structure (half-gate) rests directly on the running track on one side and on the flyover on the other, 
  • gantry - whose load-bearing part of the structure (the door) is supported on the running track by means of supports, 
  • cantilever (console) - where part of the structure is cantilever-shaped, 
  • modular - constructed of semi-enclosed modular sections and articulated suspensions fixed directly to the roof or ceiling, 
  • columns - bridging with a vertical column.

Questions and answers

Who can take part in a hook whistleblower training course?

Every participant in our hook signaller training course must be of legal age, have a minimum of primary education and have no contraindications to working in such a position. 

Who issues the licence for a hook signaller?

The licence is issued by the Office of Technical Inspection after passing the examination. This is a confirmation of the acquisition of the required skills by the trainee. 

What types of cranes are there?

A distinction is made between overhead travelling cranes, gantry cranes, half gantry cranes and also modular, column and cantilever - or console - cranes.
