We would like to invite you to join us for training in the installation of flange connections. Our company boasts many years of experience both in working with installation and in teaching this trade to others. The professionals passing on knowledge do so in an interesting and engaging manner.

About the training

The training prepares trainees for the state examination and to obtain a certificate, certifying the skills of the trainee and making them eligible to perform flange connections.

student learning to assemble

For whom is the training intended?

The following formal requirements must be met in order to enrol for training:

  • at least 18 years of age,
  • minimum basic education,
  • Good health confirmed by a medical certificate.

Therefore, if you are thinking of doing flange joint assembly or are or want to be on the staff supervising and inspecting their assembly, choose our training.

What is the purpose of the training?

The aim of the training course is primarily to teach skills in the assembly and disassembly of flanged connections. During the course, trainees will acquire theoretical and practical knowledge on the proper installation and safe operation of pressure equipment in various industries.

Examination and certificate

The student will be certified as a flange fitter after passing the examination. The validity of this certificate is 5 years. After this period, the certificate must be renewed. The examination consists of a practical and a theoretical part. The certificate entitles you to install flange connections in Poland and other EU countries. We invite you to take part in the ERGON course. Contact us to discuss the details.

What is a flange connection? - characteristics

A flanged connection consists of two opposing, coaxial flanges. These flanges are connected by at least four bolts, usually with a gasket still between them. Flange connections are the most common type of connection used in industry. They are used, for example, to connect sections of piping or flexible hoses. Disconnecting flange connections are the most important part of an installation or pressure equipment. When planning an installation, attention should be paid to the selection of the flange connection. Only a correctly selected connection will ensure safety and long service life.

The European Pressure Directive (PED) specifies that flanged joints must be installed by qualified and certified persons. Older designs are characterised by asbestos gaskets, while this is unthinkable today as asbestos is no longer a material in use. A typical feature of modern gaskets is completely different performance in terms of materials and design, hence the need for calculations. Nowadays, flanged joints are made using a flat gasket which is located between the flange planes. Such a flange :

  • may be an integrally formed section that is part of a bonded element,
  • may be a loose flange (e.g. superimposed on a sleeve),
  • can be used for welding.

Construction of flange connections

Flanged joints are coaxial, opposing flanges that are connected by four (or more) bolts. Their essential components are:

  • two axisymmetric steel flanges,
  • seals,
  • connecting elements - these are the appropriate bolts and nuts that fit into the overall structure.

There is a fairly general description of the construction.

Features of a flange fitter

The quality of the flanged connections determines the level of safety during the operation of the tanks as well as the pipelines. Consequently, the accuracy and professionalism of the fitters are very important. It is with these skills that durable and leak-proof flange connections can be made. Knowledge and skill are very important qualities of a good flange joint fitter. In order to perform the assembly and disassembly of a flanged joint using the correct gaskets and bolts, one must have the necessary knowledge and qualifications

Application of flange connections

However, not everyone knows what flanged connections are used for. Well, they are essential for connecting fittings, pipes and tubes. They are used in many industries; for example, they are used in oil refineries, the chemical industry, the food industry and the energy sector, among others.
