Overhead travelling crane authorisations and their categories
Operating cranes requires adequate preparation. For this purpose, it is necessary to crane courseThe programme provides information on the construction and correct operation of equipment. The course ends with an examination before a committee of the Office of Technical Inspection. After passing the exam, the trainee obtains a licence for cranes.
The Office of Technical Inspection distinguishes two categories of authorisations for crane operators. Category I S is the highest and also includes the authorisations that can be obtained in Category II S. With UDT authorisations for overhead cranes, you can also operate hoists, winches and stationary workshop cranes.
UDT authorisation categories for cranes:
- II S - overhead travelling cranes, hoists and winches operated from the working level and mobile workshop cranes
- I S - overhead travelling cranes, hoists and winches operated from the working level or from a cabin, and mobile workshop cranes
How long is the crane licence valid for?
Overhead crane authorisations granted by the UDT are perpetual. This means that there is no need to renew or verify them.
It is absolutely forbidden to operate equipment such as cranes without a licence. Using the equipment without the knowledge provided by the UDT courses can end up in dangerous situations that may endanger the health and life of the operator and bystanders.
